Other deck builders give you very basic stats ๐Ÿ“‰

They're essentially social networks that profile your deck:

  • Mana curve
  • Color profile
  • Individual card draw odds (sometimes)

The MTG Deck Analyzer evaluates your whole strategy ๐Ÿ“Š

It puts your deck + strategy through layered simulations to generate unique stats and guidance.

  • CMC Median, Land, and Mana Cost Pacing
  • Individual and Aggregate Tactical Probabilities
  • Mulligan Guidance
  • ML Powered Pruning Suggestions (beta)
  • ... and more in development! ๐ŸŽฒ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ

These are designed to optimize for efficient, consistent, powerful play. ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ (Learn more)

> Getting Started

  1. Sign Up (Optional)
This is optional, but highly recommended. Signing in will keep your decks stored in the cloud, keeping them safe and accessible on all of your devices.

(You also need to be signed in to publish and share your decks. ๐Ÿ“ฐ)
  2. Add a deck
Give your deck a powerful name like, Bruce Tanner (cousin to both Bruce Banner and Danny Tanner) to set the mood and strike fear in your opponents' hearts.

Then open the deck you want to edit by clicking on it.

  3. Add your strategy
Tell your deck's story. How's it going to win?

Name all of the tactics, the stages, or groups of cards you need along the way.

  4. Get detailed
Tell us the full story. Expand each one to set how many card you need to have drawn by what turn for your strategy to succeed overall.

These are all set to Need 1 By turn 5 by default. But, this will not right for all of your tactics! <Don't forget to tune these!>
  5. Add cards
Use the card names. If you need to add more than one, put a number in front of it.

You can just hit ENTER (or "Add") to add the card as typed.

Or you can wait for the suggestions and pick from the list.

(You can even navigate the list with your keyboard if you like. ๐ŸŽน)

(Unless you don't have one. โ˜Ž๏ธ)

  6. Assign card tactics
Tell us why each card is in the deck. To do this, expand each card and select the tactics that the card fulfills in your deck.

A card might be useful in several tactics. Remember to add the card to each tactical role you might use it for.
  7. Review and Refine.
Finally! Check the Analysis for a baseline of how stable and quick your deck will be over the long term.

These baselines do not [yet] take card drawing and fetching mechanics into consideration. If you have a lot of that going on, for now, I suggest adjusting your tactics to simulate those boosts. E.g., if you have significant card-drawing, increase your By Turn numbers across on non-card-draw tactics. If you have lots of fetching, add your fetch cards to the categories you'll be use the fetch cards to fetch.

If you have extra cards in your deck, the analyzer will also try to identify which cards are best to remove. This is based on a balance of the impact to overall deck stability and an ML-assigned "card power" heuristic.

Bear in mind, "Pruning Suggestions" is in BETA, and it only produces suggestions ... Like the pirate's code. ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

  8. Watch for updates!

I will eventually add more detailed guidance on how best to use each metric and chart. (You might notice there are items in the analysis I didn't cover here.) Some metrics and column headers contain hover/tooltip guidance. And, if I'm missing a tooltip somewhere where you really need one, ask for it!

And keep an eye out for new analyses! I'm not done yet!

I have plenty of my own ideas about how to improve this thing, but if you have better ideas, it would be silly of me not to implement them!
